Brazil ships 125 tons of food to Cuba

The Brazilian government dispatched 125 tons of powdered milk to Cuba this week. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that additional shipments of powdered milk, as well as rice, corn, and soybeans, will also be sent to the country in the coming weeks.

In late 2023, Brazil, the United Arab Emirates, and Cuba reached an agreement during the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 28). They committed to an initiative aimed at enhancing food and nutrition security in Latin America. This initiative involves providing resources to the production, distribution, and maintenance of healthy and sustainable food systems.

"The tripartite t operation aligns with the Brazilian G20 presidency's proposal to establish a Global Alliance against Hunger and Poverty," stated the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
